Senior PHP Developer for An Accounting SaaS Startup

Project Description

Our app provides an easier way for household employers to handle taxes and payroll for nannies, caregivers, housekeepers, and anyone else who works out of their homes. Our software calculates all the tax withholdings and contributions, prepares paystubs, sends email reminders, transfers payroll from employer to employee, prepares tax documents, and submits our clients’ tax reports and payments. We get our clients’ tax ids, register their new hires, and set up their state, federal and local accounts.

We need you because we’re growing by leaps and bounds. Growth happens when your product rocks, you charge a reasonable price, and you care about an exceptional customer experience. And right now, the best way for us to accomplish all that is with a kick-ass developer who cares about their work as much as they care about our customers.

Our developers are a collaborative group who check their egos at the door; our Co-founders work intimately with the dev team to direct priorities, test and problem-solve. We are a mix of in-house developers, domestic firms, and overseas contractors. You would be comfortable building off the existing codebase and not refactoring the entire product. However, diversity of thought toward building new features is desirable. We are a small team, and communication and collaboration are essential. We have an open dialogue that fosters creativity and innovation within our small group.

• You have experience building and maintaining MariaDB or MySQL databases.
• You have lots of experience working with third-party APIs.
• You’re familiar with AWS Linux servers.
• You can be creative.
• You’re comfortable with complex systems and problems.
• You know how to use source version control and Git.
• You’re an expert at HTML/CSS.
• You have experience with Vue.js.
• You’re careful.
• You’d rather make a difference than be part of a corporate machine.
• You’re a doer.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• You’ll analyze, design, develop, and maintain PHP software using the CakePHP framework.
• You’ll write specifications, and code, complete programming, test, and debug applications.
• You’ll work with team members and stakeholders to understand requirements and design optimal solutions.
• You’ll build robust and functionally sophisticated financial applications.
• You’ll develop and commit organized and well-structured code.
• You’ll tune solutions to optimize performance.
• You’ll remove inefficiencies and build for scale.
• You’ll troubleshoot outages, bugs, and other application issues.
